When God says in James 1:27 to "care" for the orphan, the word used for care also implies "visiting." there's a sense where we can't just sit back, but we've got to go out as a light into the darkness. We've got to go find the waiting children who need hope, and we've got to visit and care for them in their distress. Consider going on your own, but even better, consider going out with members of your community, small group, youth group, or church.

Go Local

There are hurting foster children and social orphans in your community and state who need the love and hope of Christ. It's our jobs as Christians to show them the hope we have in Christ!

Become a foster care liaison: Be a representitive or go-between for your local foster care and your community, youth group, church, or campus ministry. Find needs that you can meet, find kids that you can love.

Help in your area: Get involved in the lives of foster and fatherless kids near you. Consider tutoring, mentoring CASA (Court Appointed Social Advocate), or collecting items like diapers or backpacks.

Foster: Almost every county has needs for more foster parents, especailly for older children. If not you, then who? If not now, then when? Partner with your state to make it happen.

Go Global

Show hope to the children of the world.

Go overseas: travel to the ends of the earth bringing the hope and love of Christ to orphans and waiting children in countries like Uganda, China, Nicaragua, etc. Take a trip with your church or campus group, go where you are already involved and find ways to server orphans.
