The Grooms Family
My husband, Jonathan, and I have always had a heart for adoption. Jonathan’s mother and sister were adopted and I had many foster siblings growing up. We knew we wanted to grow our family through adoption. After our first son was born, we began the process of adopting from Ethiopia.
After being in the process for a while, we were surprised to find out that we were pregnant! The agency put us on hold. At the time, it was heart wrenching because we had spent years in the process, praying, preparing, and saving money. Nonetheless, our agency required us to wait until our newborn child was one year old.
When almost a year had past, we were ready to redo our paperwork and start the process again. That exact same week, our little girl was born in Ethiopia. If our agency had not put us on hold, we would not have this little one in our home. Now, everything makes sense. God had a plan!
We received her first picture when she was five months old. We flew to visit her in December 2013. It was so hard to come back to the US without our daughter. On April 1st, we took her in our arms and didn’t have to let go anymore. She loved her siblings and seemed to fit right into our family, soaking in all of the love from each of us. Her best buddy is her sister, Perpetua. God planned their sweet friendship!
We named her Nations Hope. We are thankful that God places the lonely in families! We’re so blessed to have Nations in our family. We praise God for Show Hope and all they do to help bring orphans into families. It overwhelms me to think of the thousands of lives who have been transformed by the work of Show Hope!
